Benched Benched (for now)

Hi!

It’s me and I am back.

Since it’s officially November, I decided to get myself up off the ground and get things moving again.

October was a rough month. For the past 2 years, I have been working on an idea for a web-series. I am so close to getting it shot and making it come to life on screen. In September, I decided to give crowdfunding a shot and it didn't go over well. Not being able to raise the funds for my project was a tad disappointing.

However, I realized that I am not the crowd funding type. I dont have the type of following some Independent filmmakers have (yet) to be able to raise the funds that I would need for my project. Additionally, crowdfunding takes a certain type of marketing and unfortunately that is not something that I have in my tool box.

I am so incredibly passionate about the story I want to tell. I will get this project shot and I will submit it to festivals, however the game plan to do so looks a little different than when I was working with a larger budget.

This is how I plan to make my web-series come to life on the screen:

  1. First things first, what do I have to work with right now? I have props around my home that I can collect along with anything my friends have that I can borrow.

  2. Actors; to begin with, I planned to pay my actors a small stipend. Unfortunately I don’t think that is going to be possible to pay my actors with the amount of them I need. I will offer actors credit along with food on set and a fun filled wrap party.

  3. Location; currently we plan to shoot this project in a park so hopefully we won't have to pay much for the location.

  4. Equipment; We have cameras and plan to use natural lighting however we might need to rent some sound equipment to ensure we get the best picture and sound for this project.

Being frugal is going to be key for this project but I believe that we can make it work. I hope to shoot this in the spring to get it completed in time to submit for festivals. In a few months or so, I will do an updated blog post on this project. If you are interested in volunteering your time or donating food or props, you will be greatly appreciated! More details on how you can do that in the upcoming months.

For everyone who is reading thank you for following along I promise to do better for the rest of the year. I have lots of thoughts I am currently working on so I hope to be able to share a post a week.

Cheers!
